Each year the Eastern Institute of Technology presents the Professional/ Post-Graduate Certificate in Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy. This is a nine-month, partly extramural programme, consisting of home study, practice in your own workplace, and three five-day internal blocks at the EIT in Hawkes Bay (usually in April, July and September - check with EIT for actual dates). The block approach means that students from all over NZ can attend. Although the focus is on general CBT, there is enough REBT taught to meet the requirements for the Primary Certificate in REBT. Primary tutor for the programme is Wayne Froggatt. If you work for a Government-funded mental health service (e.g. a DHB), your fee and expenses (e.g. travel, supervision and cover for your absence) may be paid by the Clinical Training Agency. For other students, the fee set is very reasonable for such a course.
